Nobody really cares except for some music journalists insisting that Panda Bear was number one on their “national” best albums in 2007 (these provincialist idiots publish national and international lists…), but matter of fact, Mr. Album of the Year Noah Lennox is a Lisbon resident since 2004 and is probably the most interesting music artist residing in Lisboa right now.
He keeps it low-key. You hardly see him: he doesn’t go to shows, he surely is not drinking with my friends. He has mentioned Lisbon’s sunlight influence on Person Pitch and that’s nice to read in english, but the obvious good thing about it is that he plays around Lisboa often and he tries his new stuff there. I include pictures from two shows, first at an african music club in Lisboa, then at a big popular party with amazing shitty stage and lighting in Porto (check out these awesome old people!).
Jonnhy maybe disagrees but I think he is pretty amazing and is putting out an impressive amount of beautiful and uplifting music, alone and with Animal Collective. If you follow this link you get a live set by Panda Bear and an interview with a nice portuguese radio dude just before Person Pitch was out (plus classic portuguese to english verb tenses mistakes by the portuguese radio dude, I do them too!).
But of course, he doesn’t really use that many guitars. Faggot.
